Man's Ethnic Wear is diverse including garments like Sherwani in heavy and light embroidery depending upon the occasion. On weddings, sherwani is exquisite designs and embroidery is worn to mark the special occasion. There are numerous designs, styles and shades in which the contemporary sherwanis are available and they blend the traditional and the contemporary essence really well.

Indian ethnic wear has an enviable collection of dresses for both men and women and they are simply not outdated to the modern wearers who are basically youth. Demand for man’s ethnic wear increases during festivals and weddings as it is customary to flaunt one’s own cultural heritage, more during such cultural happenings.  Sherwani is a man’s ethnic wear which resembles a long coat like doublet or Achkan very popular in Muslim tradition in various parts of the Indian subcontinent. A sherwani displays rich grandeur in its designs and texture which is a result of the expensive fabrics with which it is made that generally comprises raw silk, pure silk and satin.

Sherwani was basically royal attire originating in South Asia that went on to become significant with the Muslim nobility, but now it is a common item worn irrespective of one’s cultural and religious roots. It has also evolved considerably to suit the taste of the contemporary wearers who incorporated western styles in it as well. Sherwanis are worn by the groom during weddings as they are lavishly embroidered and highly suitable for such occasions. Sherwanis extend till the knees and it is buttoned right up to the collar and they can be tailored according to the preferences of the wearers. Sherwani is worn with a churidar which is a fitted bottom and the colorful sherwanis look astounding when teamed with it. Correct fit and color of the garments enhance the appeal of the attire which comes in a range of styles. Embroideries like chikankari, phulkari, Kashmiri, Kantha and Kashida are applied on them along with zardosi, zari and dabka works.

If you want to flaunt a traditional design nothing better suits than retro designs with ‘butis’, Mughal motifs and floral patterns. Contemporary deigns include abstract designs with Swarovski crystals, stone work and so on. Men’s ethnic wear has so many designs and styles that it would be difficult to fathom how diverse it could be if not properly researched. Jamawar sherwani has a different neck style and is made from ‘resham’ with a lot of sequin work, extravagant and apt for occasions like weddings. Traditional Sherwani in gold and zari work worn by men of Kingly estates were tailored to perfection by skilled tailors who have passed on their skills to their following generations and they are most sought after by fashion designers as well. Hence, Sherwani is a perfect ethnic wear in which traditional and modern styles have been finely blended.
